Patagonia uses what we call a 4-layer approach to pre-screen the mills and spinning houses we work with. Every supplier, new or existing, must meet our standards and requirements regarding business and quality, as well as social and environmental standards. The teams representing each of these layers have veto power over the addition of a new partner to the supply chain. This is an effective process that excludes suppliers who do not meet the strict set of 4-layer standards.
We also rely on our Supply Chain Environmental Responsibility program to measure and reduce the environmental impacts of manufacturing Patagonia products.
Our Workplace Code of Conduct for Suppliers is based on the core standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and requires our suppliers to comply with all laws in the countries where our factories operate. We also have a robust Material Traceability program to ensure rigorous guidelines throughout the supplier chain of custody.
