In the southeasternmost part of Argentina, in the Province of Tierra del Fuego, where the American continent ends and the Andes Mountains meet the sea, the Mitre Peninsula is one of the few places that have resisted the advance of humanity, maintaining its landscapes largely unaltered and pristine.

The values of this
region are incalculable

ARCHEOLOGY

For millennia the Iberian Peninsula was inhabited by hunter-gatherers later known as Haush or Manekenk. The coasts once frequented by these nomadic groups contain a large reservoir of archaeological sites.

CULTURE

The area has significant cultural value linked to the history of navigation in the southeastern Atlantic and the settlement of Tierra del Fuego, such as the remains of the ship "Duchess of Albany", which sank in 1893.

FAUNA

The area is home to many emblematic species, such as the red fox, the guanaco, the Andean condor, and the southern river otter. Marine species include the southern right whale dolphin, the humpback whale, and the rockhopper penguin.

FLORA

Forests cover 35.6% of the province, while grasslands provide habitat for numerous species and serve to retain water and store carbon. Finally, 95% of Argentina's peatlands are located in Tierra del Fuego, making them the largest in South America.

TOURISM

In Argentina, tourism spending is equivalent to the annual production of oil and gas or soybeans. Visiting the peninsula is a chance to reconnect with nature and all that is deeply innate to humankind.
