Voluntary Retirement Upf
Some of our Capilene® Cool Daily and Tropic Comfort styles do not meet the 50+ UPF protection rating.
Here's what you need to know.
We recently discovered that some products in two of our sun protection lines—Capilene Cool Daily and Tropic Comfort—do not meet the 50+ UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating we had indicated for them. If you own any of these products, please note the following: they offer robust UV protection, but not as much as originally stated.
Our testing confirms a UPF range of 17–45 instead of 50, with an average of 34 UPF. The good news is that even at 17 UPF, the products block 92% of the sun's ultraviolet rays. The bad news is that we fell short of our goal of providing you with the highest level of protection. We have recalled and suspended distribution of the affected styles until we can resolve the issue.

If you decide to exchange or return the product, you must complete the form. You can process the return or exchange at our store: Suipacha 1178, CABA, or via Andreani courier service. In this case, we will send you a label by email for you to print and affix to your package. You will then need to go to the Andreani branch we will indicate based on your address.
If you cut off the label or can't find the style code, you can still return the item. You can see all the products included in the voluntary return here.

Ours. Once we discovered that our products did not meet our claims, we decided to initiate this voluntary product recall process. We never want our customers to feel misled, and we always do our best to manufacture the best product.
In May 2021, we discovered the issue through our own internal testing, which was later confirmed by an independent laboratory. These new UPF tests contradict our previous results, which showed that the materials had a UPF rating above 70. Our initial tests were conducted during the material development process, prior to the Spring 2019 product launch, but no further testing was performed once the garments were manufactured. We are changing our processes to prevent this from happening again.
Assuming the product is still safe for you to use, we offer the following options:
- You can keep the garment.
- Exchange it for a Gift Card to use on our website.
- Refund of money to a bank account or Mercado Pago.
- Exchange for another product.
If you have already completed the online return form and delivered the garment to the store or to the Andreani branch, the deadlines are as follows:
- Gift Card: 3 to 5 business days.
- Refund to bank account or Mercado Pago: 4 to 7 business days.
- Exchange for another product: 15 to 30 business days.
We will correct the labeling or recycle and reuse the garments through our Worn Wear program. Rest assured that throwing them away is not an option.
With all this in mind, it's your decision whether to continue using your product. If you're disappointed, we'll gladly accept it back.
