Long after the 2019 avalanche season had ended in Colorado and the snow had melted, the devastation it caused still lingered across the state. In the first two weeks of March, more than 1,000 avalanches struck the mountain slopes, 87 of which were rated D4 or larger (compared to 24 in that same size range during the previous eight winters combined).
